Master of Psychology (Clinical)

The Master of Psychology (Clinical) will provide you with the knowledge, skills, and accreditation required to work as a clinical psychologist in hospitals, community health, and other clinical settings. The program covers a range of key areas including adult, adolescent, and child clinical psychology, as well as neuropsychological assessment and rehabilitation. In addition to your coursework, you will complete a research thesis on a topic relevant to clinical or abnormal psychology, presented in the form of a scholarly journal article.
 
This program is accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) as the fifth and sixth years of study, making graduates eligible for full membership of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and registration as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA).
 
To be eligible for admission, you will need a 4-year APAC-accredited psychology sequence, including a major research thesis/project, with Honours Class 1 (85%) or an international equivalent. Qualifications must be completed within the last 10 years (exceptions may apply in limited circumstances).
 
We only have 1 commencing term for this program each year in February. Applications for the program are generally open from August, through to October. The application process is the same for both domestic and international applicants. Applications for 2025 admission are now closed.
 
Domestic students benefit from Commonwealth support, meaning a substantial portion of your fees will be subsidised by the Australian government if you receive an offer from UNSW.

The Master of Psychology (Forensic) will equip you with the knowledge and skills to meet the growing needs of this field. In addition to coursework, you will complete a research thesis on a relevant topic in forensic psychology, presented as a scholarly journal article.
 
Forensic psychologists work in a wide range of settings including prisons, courts, police, probation and parole, juvenile justice, child protection, and public policy. This program will prepare you to become an integral part of the professional interface between psychology and the law.

This Master of Clinical Neuropsychology offers a direct pathway to gain endorsement as a clinical neuropsychologist from the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA), providing you with access to a range of rewarding career opportunities within the field of neuropsychology.
 
As a fully-endorsed clinical neuropsychologist, you’ll be able to work in diverse clinical settings, helping patients manage and minimise the impacts of a wide variety of conditions, including developmental, neuropsychiatric, neurological, and degenerative disorders.
 
With the growing demand for qualified clinical neuropsychologists driven by an aging population and increased NDIS funding, this field is expanding rapidly. To be eligible for the program, you must have:
  1. A 6-year APAC-accredited psychology sequence, including a major research thesis.
  2. Current registration as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia, with Area of Practice Endorsement in Clinical Psychology, Forensic Psychology, Educational and Developmental Psychology, or an equivalent qualification.
