Thank you for contacting UNSW Future Students.
UNSW is a welcoming institution for international students and appreciates the value they bring to our university and student communities.
Due to the Australian Government's proposed legislation to limit the number of international students that universities in Australia can accept every year, UNSW has made the tough decision to take precautionary measures, assuming the proposed legislation is approved and implemented from January 1st, 2025 as has been indicated.
Any offers not accepted by November 1st, 2024 to commence study in 2025 have now been withdrawn. Please note that this is not due to academic merit or wrongdoing by the student. Students with withdrawn offers can opt in to join the UNSW Sydney Offer Waitlist via the link provided in the offer withdrawal notification email they received. This must be done by 4pm AEDT on November 8th, 2024 to be considered as part of the UNSW Sydney Offer Waitlist. The Offer Waitlist is not a guarantee of an offer to study at UNSW. We encourage students with offers from other universities to consider their options.
Existing applications are still being assessed and if the minimum entry requirements are met, applicants will be placed on the Offer Waitlist. We are pausing issuing new offers, including those deferring from previous terms. Eligible students will join the Offer Waitlist. Should new places for 2025 become available, students on the Offer Waitlist will be prioritised.
Application fees are non-refundable once your application has been assessed. As your application had been assessed, you are not eligible for a refund. For further information, refer to page 9 of the Admission to Coursework Programs Procedure.
We hope to make some limited offers for 2025 and will provide more information should we be able to continue to make offers. We are open to 2026 applications at this time, however, will not be making offers for these intakes until 2025.
For more information, please see the International Student FAQs.
We appreciate your understanding in this unprecedented time and wish you the best for your future studies.
